Rental Program

The LCCC Bookstore is proud to save students money with our Rental Plus Program!  All rental books are for the duration of the current semester. Rentals offer students another option to save money on their textbook costs by providing immediate upfront savings. Students who rent books are required to have a debit/credit card placed on file as collateral for their rental book.  In the event the book is turned into the bookstore past the due date a $10 late fee per book will be assessed to the card on file.  Students opting to rent must complete a Rental Agreement at the register. The last date to receive a refund for a rental textbook follows the same return policy as purchased materials.

How much do I save when I rent textbooks?

You can save up to 50% off a new textbook price and up to 30% on a used textbook price.

Can I use Financial Aid?


Can I use my employee discount on rentals?

No, the discount only applies to purchases.

Why do you need my credit card if I pay another way?

We will keep your credit card on file just in case there is a problem with your rental return.

Can I highlight or write in a rented textbook?

Yes! Normal use of highlighting and writing is permitted.

When do I need to return my rented textbook?

The due date for returning rentals is the last day of the semester. The date will be posted in the bookstore and printed on your sales receipt and rental reminder sticker.

Can I ship my book back?

Yes, rentals can be shipped back to the Bookstore. Rentals that are shipped back must be postmarked by the due date. If mailing on the due date, please call or email the bookstore (307-778-1114 or to alert them so they will not process any late fees on your card.

What if I drop the class?

The refund policy for a drop/add is the same for rental and purchased textbooks.

Can I decide to keep my book?

Yes! You can convert your rental to a purchase anytime before the due date.  Please let the bookstore know and plan on paying the difference in price between the purchase price and what you've already paid for the rental.

Will I save more when I rent than if I were to buy and sell the book back?

With rentals, you know what your costs are. With buying and selling back the books, you may save more in the end, but buyback prices are based off of what demands are for the following semester. If you have further concerns, email us or stop in to talk with us.

Rental Agreement

I am at least 18 years of age. I will return the rented materials to the LCCC Bookstore, hereafter known as “Bookstore”, on or before the rental return date.  The bookstore is not responsible for reminding me of the rental return date and is not responsible for returns that are lost or damaged in shipping. I am fully responsible for the condition of the materials rented to me and for payment of fees and replacement costs if rented materials are lost, stolen or returned in unacceptable condition. Unacceptable conditions include, but are not limited to, water damage, pages torn out, binder spine fraying or falling apart, excessive highlighting and writing on pages, and missing CD’s or other study aides. All rented materials are subject to these conditions and the Bookstore will decide what is or is not acceptable at the time the rented materials are returned.  If I fail to return the rented materials by the rental return date printed on my receipt, the credit card on file with the bookstore will be charged a $10.00 late fee and the full retail price of the rented materials minus the amount paid for the initial rental.  Retail price is based on current values at the time of replacement.  I am either the account holder or authorized user of the credit or debit card used to secure the rental material or have been given permission by the account holder.  I will not cancel or exceed the purchasing limits of the credit or debit card referenced above until the rented textbooks are either returned to Bookstore or the Non-return Fees are paid. If the credit or debit card is declined the patron account will be suspended and sent to a Third Party Collection Agency. 

I will be responsible for paying all Collection Fees assessed by the Third Party Collection Agency. Bookstore will make reasonable efforts to process transactions in a timely manner. I agree not to hold Bookstore responsible in the event Bookstore does not credit or debit my credit or debit card for a period of time due to circumstances beyond its control. Bookstore makes no guarantees regarding the processing time for charges.

I agree, in order for Bookstore to service my account or to collect any amount I may owe, unless otherwise prohibited by applicable law, Bookstore or a designated Third Party Collection Agency are authorized to  (i) contact me by telephone at the telephone number(s) in the patron contact account information I am providing, including wireless telephone numbers, which could result in charges to me,  (ii) contact me by sending text messages (message and data rates may apply) or emails, using any email address I provide and/or (iii)  methods of contact may include using pre-recorded/artificial voice message and/or use of an automatic dialing device, as applicable. I also agree, if my rental is eligible to be returned to Bookstore, I will still be liable for a service fee assessed by the Third Party Collection Agency. Replacement of rental materials (exact duplicate, correct ISBN, title, author, edition, etc.) will be accepted in lieu of any damaged rental materials on or before the rental return date.  The Bookstore’s refund policy applies for all rental materials.
